Trash Sailors is an action adventure game enriched with survival and roguelike elements, developed by the independent Polish studio fluckyMachine (Escape Doodland) and released by QubicGames.
Plot
The action of Trash Sailors takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, which as a result of a powerful tsunami was largely flooded. During the game we take control of a duo of title sailors trying to find a piece of dry land for themselves.
Mechanics
We start the game by choosing one of the four characters. While Draska is the most experienced sailor, "jack of all trades" Francis is a kind of handyman, Herman is slow but strong, and Mary is fast but weak. After that, we can dive right into the game.
The action is shown from third-person perspective. Sailing through five different procedurally generated locations, we must avoid obstacles, collect floating objects and convert them into useful resources, as well as face numerous enemies. The latter include not only wild animals such as alligators, aggressive penguins, giant octopuses or even bloodthirsty sharks, but also representatives of hostile tribes. We eliminate them by using weapons installed on board our raft or in melee combat. In addition, sometimes the weather is a threat - sailing in darkness, in fog that effectively limits visibility or during a lightning storm can be quite challenging. All this, combined with the fact that game can be extremely dynamic, means that the key to success here is to cooperate with our companion.
The resources from the eponymous trash are used to repair the damage and improve the raft. In addition, during the game we get various costumes for our characters.
Game modes
Although Trash Sailors can be played solo, the title spreads its wings in multiplayer mode, allowing two players to work together on a common screen.
Technical aspects
Trash Sailors' visuals adopt a cartoonish, though slightly gloomy, style. The game is accompanied by a catchy soundtrack.
