Trapped Dead

Trapped Dead, available on PC, is a tactical RTS that takes the mechanics known from the Commandos series and puts it into the 3D world overrun with the living dead.

Plot

The action of the game takes players to an alternate reality of the 1980s, in which one gets to travel to a town of Hedge Hill located in Missouri. The main protagonists – Mike and Gerald – get to this town right at the time when a mysterious virus starts to transform the townsfolk into bloodthirsty zombies.

Mechanics

When developing the game, the creators drew their inspirations from the Commandos series. In the PC release of Trapped Dead, players get to control a group of survivors – one does not have a direct control over his characters, instead, a player can issue orders with the mouse (as in RTS games). Each member of the survivors group exhibits unique assets and weaknesses. The key to success lies in the proper utilization of the characters’ strengths. The core of the gameplay, even though based on the mechanics known from strategy games, features strong elements of arcade and logical games.

Technical aspects

The action is presented from a top-down perspective; however, a player has a significant control over the camera. The developers prepared an elaborate story mode, which can be completed in both single and cooperative modes – the latter one allows up to three players to join their forces in fighting the zombies.
