First-person adventure game combining the cyberpunk genre with the horror from the prose of H.P. Lovecraft. Independent developers from Stormling Studios are responsible for creating this production.
Transient is a first-person adventure game with horror elements. The action is set in a rather unusual, dystopian universe, combining a cyberpunk convention with themes inspired by the dark prose of H.P. Lovecraft. The game was developed by Stormling Studios, formerly known as Zoetrope Interactive (they have created Conarium and Darkness Within series), and published by Iceberg Interactive.
Plot
The action of the game takes place in a distant, post-apocalyptic future. The remains of the human race have taken refuge in a citadel known as Doomed City Providence. The player takes on the role of a hacker by the name of Randolph Carter, who accidentally learn a terrifying secret that can completely change his approach to the world and even drive him on a path of madness.
Mechanics
In Transient, players observe the action from the eyes of the hero (the FPP perspective). The gameplay consists mainly of exploring the locations and gradually discovering the plot prepared by the developers. Additionally, one can search for various kinds of secrets and easter eggs scattered around locations.
An interesting idea that can be found in the game is the possibility to travel between the real world and artificially created places. Importantly, the boundary between the two can be extremely flexible. It is not always easy to find out where the real reality begins.
Game modes
In Transient one can only play alone. The creators have not prepared any multiplayer mode.
Technical aspects
Transient offers three-dimensional visuals based on Unreal Engine 4. Both the locations and the character models have a high level of detail. The game is maintained in a futuristic style with inspirations from the science fiction genre. The game is accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack.
