A third-person action game set in the universe of the popular Hasbro toy franchise. Contrary to the Transformers games released in recent years, the production by Platinum Games has nothing to do with Michael Bay’s movie series and is directly inspired by the animated TV series that aired in the USA in years 1984-87.
Transformers: Devastation is a third-person action game developed by Platinum Games, a Japanese studio known for Vanquish and the Bayonetta series.
The project was inspired by The Transformers animated series, aired on American TV in years 1984-1987. To recreate the atmosphere of the original feature, the developers at Platinum Games used the cel-shading technique in a way that emulate the distinctive look that the 80s cartoons used to have. The characters are voiced by the same actors that did the voice-over in the original TV series, including Peter Culles as Optmius Prime, Dan Gilvezan as Bubblebee and Frank Welker as Megatron and Soundwave.
In the course of the campaign, we side with the noble Autobots and have to face the deceitful Decepticons. The leader of the latter, Megatron, discovers a certain plasma energy technology that could transform the entire Earth into a cybernetic structure. Our task is to thwart his plans.
There are five Autobots to choose from: Optimus Prime, Bubblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock. Each of them has unique offensive abilities. All protagonists can instantly transform between vehicle and humanoid forms. Platinum Games is known for great combat systems and Transformers: Devastation is no exception. The fighting mechanisms allow the players to perform a number of various attacks and counter-attacks as well as to chain them into long combos. Many of those require transformation before it's completed. For example: we may drive into an enemy as a truck and then smoothly proceed to throw punches at him as a robot. The game also offers a character development system and 5 levels of difficulty.

Why You Can No Longer Buy Transformers Games?
Transformers: Devastation was supposed to be a great return of the famous classic animation IP. The game created by Platinum Games was appreciated by the fans. Suddenly, however, it completely vanished from sale.
