Total Annihilation
After the big success of Total Annihilation, the programmers from Cavedog decided to release another game referring to that title. This time around, the action was moved into a completely new dimension. Modern tanks and planes were substituted by knights, mages and dragons. The story of Total Annihilation: Kingdoms tells the tale of a ten-thousand-years’ war in the land of Darien. The players will have to choose one of 4 different sides of the conflict and lead it to victory.
Each of the sides is characterized by different types of units which total to 70. They are awarded veteran status for participation in combat which positively influences their combat ability. The single player campaign offers 48 pretty various missions. The players can also test themselves in the multiplayer mode.
Despite the fact that the sound effects are very good and the graphics are nice, it is clearly visible that the developers were in a hurry for they did not avoid several mistakes. The most annoying of those is the underdeveloped system of unit control and poor AI of computer opponents.
