A simulation game from the Spanish studio RECO Technology, focusing on the world-famous bullfighting, rooted deeply in Spanish culture, but also causing huge controversies around the world. We start as a novice torero and try to become a prominent figure on the arena. To achieve this, we must climb up the ladder by taking part in more and more prestigious contests.
Toro is a simulation game for PC, PS4 and XONE focusing on bullfights – a discipline with deep roots in Spanish culture, and also a very controversial topic in the whole world. It has (obviously) been developed by Spanish team of RECO Technology studio.
Plot and game mechanics
Toro lets us play as novice toreador with ambitions of becoming the number in the world. To achieve this, he has to propel his career by taking part in prestigious contests on the most famous arenas of the world. We learn the basics through a simple tutorial that teaches us all the secrets of fighting bulls in front of thousands of cheering spectators. But to reach that stage, we must first complete various challenges to increase skills and fame of our character. Only when we accomplish that we will be able to become every bull’s nightmare.
For an average player, gameplay of Toro fir PC, PS4 and XONE doesn’t offer too much. All in all, fights come down to performing the same gestures to get bull’s attention, letting us perform various combinations. In case we occasionally fail and let a bull retaliate, there are two QTE sequences, which will help minimize the damage taken from mauling. Even though fights get more and more challenging as we progress through the campaign, the formula doesn’t change much. Quick reactions and reflex are crucial.
Technical aspects
Toro is a very low budget title, that’s conspicuous at first glance. Even with PC, PS4 and XONE potential, both graphics and animations are average at best.
