The next edition of the famous car races, enjoying great interest, especially in Japan. This time the player's attention is focused on duels organized on narrow mountain road sections.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT is the next installment of the cult series, which enjoys particular popularity in the Land of Cherry Blossoms. The series was launched on the Dreamcast console, but the next products were released only on PS2. This is no different in this case. At the same time, it is worth noting that during this time the manufacturer, which is still Genki company, has not changed. As in the previous versions of the series, TXR DRIFT also has a not very extensive multiplayer for two people, in which duels are played on a split screen.

This racer offers several dozen licensed models of vehicles from such well-known brands as Alfa Romeo, Audi, Subaru, Toyota, BMW, Nissan, or Volkswagen. Individual machines differ not only in appearance, but also in performance or behaviour on the route. In addition, they can be further modified by purchasing the relevant parts. The driving model was also left unchanged. It still represents a compromise between arcade and simulation.

This version of DRIFT contains a number of interesting changes which to some extent distinguish this product from its predecessors. One of the most serious improvements is to move the venue of the races themselves from classic sports facilities to narrow mountain paths. This, of course, forces the players to drive more cautiously and at the same time forces them to make spectacular slides, clearly related to the game title.

In the course of the game, the player can enter two different types of competitions. During the daytime these are most often classic races, in which we complete the required number of laps. As a reward for subsequent victories we receive a certain amount of cash. Much more interesting in this respect are the night races, in which the fight for new parts and earn points of respect. Thanks to them you can join more prestigious events, offering the winners many more interesting prizes. Night races also give you the opportunity to place a variety of bets, whether it's cash or betting on the balance of your current car. The Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT visuals are at a similar level to previous games in the series. However, the interestingly designed and at the same time quite demanding routes deserve attention. Professional weather effects were also taken care of, including those hindering driving in strong winds or limiting visibility in heavy rain.
