To the Moon Video Game Series
A series of adventure games with RPG elements. For the series To the Moon is the responsibility of independent Canadian studio Freebird Games, headed by Kan "Reives" Gao. Before developing the first part of the series, the team delivered four other works, viz. Quintessence: The Blighted Venom, Do You Remember My Lullaby?, The Mirror Lied and Lyra's Melody - The Song She Whispered to Me.
In the productions of the series To the Moon the fun is in traversing the game world, having conversations with various characters, as well as solving puzzles and discovering various mysteries. Games under this banner are created in RPG Maker program and have simple, but at the same time colorful and clear graphics, maintained in pixel art style straight from 16-bit jRPGs. The game play in each of them takes place to the accompaniment of atmospheric music, composed by Kan Gao, who heads Freebird Games.
The first part of the series, namely To the Moon, debuted on personal computers in November 2011. The production told the story of two scientists working for Sigmund Corporation, whose task was to offer dying patients the opportunity to move to their memories and direct past events in such a way that they could fulfill their greatest dreams. The title received a very warm reception from gamers and reviewers, thanks to which it not only launched a new brand recognized around the world, but also allowed the team behind it to gain steam. Over the years, the item has also appeared on other platforms.
In November 2014, a second adventure set in the universe saw the light of day To the Moon, namely the game A Bird Story. This time, instead of a continuation of the original, we received a side story. For the full-fledged second part of the series we had to wait until December 2017, when the game went on sale Finding Paradise. The production continued the threads taken in the first installment of the series and followed the path set by it, once again allowing us to take on the role of a duo of doctors "repairing" the memories of their patients. The lack of innovation apparently did not bother players and reviewers, as the title received as warm a reception as the original.
The third part of the series, the Impostor Factory, hit store shelves in September 2021. The story told in it was prepared in such a way that knowledge of the earlier installments of the series is not necessary to understand it and enjoy the gameplay. Players and reviewers welcomed this work of Freebird Games with open arms, as evidenced by high ratings.
At the end of 2023, another side story set in the world of To the Moon. We are talking about the game Just A To the Moon Series Beach Episode, which tells the story of a one-day vacation of Sigmund Corporation employees at a seaside resort.

Finding Paradise
Adventure
December 14, 2017
Developed by Freebird Games, an adventure game being a continuation of the studio’s previous productions – To the Moon and A Bird Story. Finding Paradise narrates a completely new story, although the knowledge of the aforementioned titles makes playing more enjoyable. Once again, there are two doctors who travel into a patient’s mind using futuristic technology, in order to discover his biggest wish and fulfill it before he passes away. The gameplay mechanics stayed almost completely untouched – primarily, you explore the world, chat with NPCs, and look for orbs that symbolize the memories of the dying patient. Gameplay is complemented with occasional puzzles and mini games, but the title still puts emphasis on the story. The visuals feature an old school style inspired by 16- and 32-bit Japanese RPGs.

To the Moon
Adventure
November 1, 2011
An unusual adventure game developed by an indie developer studio from Canada, Freebird Games. To The Moon lets you play as two scientists working for Sigmund Corp., who offer people a chance to revisit their own memories and change the way they remember how their lives went so they can live out their biggest, unfulfilled dreams. As the two scientists delve into the mind of an ill old man named Johnathan Wyles, whose life dream was to fly to the Moon, the player’s job is to make that happen. Elements of the real world and the memories of fading Mr. Wyles interweave constantly throughout the story, and gameplay boils down to exploration of in-game locations and collecting special orbs that represent the old man’s key memories. To this end, you have to talk to people you meet and collect various items that give access to deeper layers of his memory. To the Moon combines a not so small dose of humor with a touching drama.
