Tinkertown Description
Tinkertown is an indie adventure game, in which we traverse a magical fantasy world, gather resources, build our own village, look for treasure and fight enemies. It was developed and published by Headup, known for publishing such games as Truberbrook, Vambrace: Cold Soul and Silver Chains.
Mechanics
Tinkertown is an adventure game with RPG and survival elements, set in a procedurally generated open world. Said world is divided into several biomes, including volcanic areas, forests, deserts, mountains, and dungeons. These biomes are home to resources needed to expand our village and craft powerful equipment. It is a necessity in Tinkertown, as the world is full of dangerous enemies, such as skeletons, bats, orcs, trolls and other fantasy creatures. If we're brave enough, we can delve into the dungeons to face horrifying bosses, which is well worth the risk, as prevailing brings great rewards.
Tinkertown features an unusual class system - the classes are the warrior, mage and thief, but we don't choose one permanently, as our class is defined by equipped gear. This means that if we get tired of casting spells from a distance, simply changing our weapons and armor will turn us into an agile, deadly bandit.
Crafting various items plays a huge part in the game. We must travel the world wielding shovels, pickaxes and axes to acquire necessary resources, such as different ores or wood. These then serve as material to expand our settlement with, from a flimsy wooden shack to a fortified castle. First, however, we must process gathered materials. Metal is melted into ingots; logs are cut into planks or poles, materials are turned into decorations: flags, lighting and so on.
Game modes
Tinkertown supports singleplayer and online co-op for up to four players.
Technical aspects
Tinkertown makes use of a fully 2D pixel art artstyle.
