Theatre of Pain is another, after Rise of the Robots, skillful fight, created by Mirage Technologies studio. This time the developers decided to offer players a kind of time travel, offering a fight with historical and mythical characters from ancient Rome.

The game offers two modes of play - against computer artificial intelligence or a living opponent. Players have at their disposal 8 playable characters, including Spartakus, Kaligula, Wulkan and Jupiter. While playing at higher difficulty levels, it is also possible to unlock four additional heroes. Each of the heroses has a different weapon and also has an individual set of special attacks.

The mechanics of the Theatre of Pain is largely based on solutions known from the Rise of Robots. During the duels, six standard attacks (including three types of kicks) can be derived. Successful combination of blows in combinations allows to recharge the energy bar, which, when completely filled, allows the use of a special, extremely strong attack.

The visual setting used in the Theatre of Pain is a combination of 2 and 3D graphics. Unlike e.g. the Mortal Kombat series, the creators of the game decided on unrealistic character models (with grotesque musculature) and a suitably subdued dose of violence on the screen.
