The Wonderful 101: Remastered

The Wonderful 101: Remastered is a refreshed version of an unusual action game released on Nintendo Wii U in 2013. Both the original and the remaster are made by the Japanese studio PlatinumGames, known from such games as Nier: Automata, Vanquish, and Bayonetta series.

Plot

The game takes place in the future, during the third war between humanity and the alien terrorist organization known as The Geathjerk Federation. In a clash with powerful alien forces, superheroes become the last hope of Earth. However, the threat is so great that for the first time the heroes are forced to unite and fight as a team.

This description of the plot may seem dramatic, but the story was presented with a pinch of salt. The scenario is very humorous and often mocks the schemes of American comic books about superheroes.

Mechanics

The Wonderful 101: Remastered is an unusual action game. Events are shown from an isometric view, and during the game, we direct a whole bunch of characters. As we pass the levels, more characters join us, and the more numerous our team is, the more strength it has.

Players need to explore levels, complete tasks and rescue people who join our horde. A key role is played by the ability to transform the group into different forms, e.g. jelly, a weapon, a giant hand manipulating large objects, and even a live whip.

At the end of the mission, our achievements are summarized, which depends on factors such as the time the map passes or the damage received.

Game modes

The Wonderful 101: Remastered allows you to play both alone and in co-op mode for up to five people. Additionally, the creators have prepared Time Attack mode, which is not available in the original from 2013.

Technical aspects

The game offers an attractive three-dimensional visual setting made in a cartoon style. Compared to the original, The Wonderful 101: Remastered has refreshed graphics and additional content, including Luka's First Mission mini-campaign, which tells the story of a new character.
