Taras Bulba is an action game with RPG elements by a Russian development company, Burut Creative Team, known to players from such productions as Kreed, UbelSoldier or Hard to Be a God. The plot of this project was based on a historical drama with the same title, which in turn was inspired by a novel by Nikolai Gogol.
The player takes on the role of the title character - Taras Bulba, the Zaporozhsky Cossack, a fierce enemy of, among others, Tatars and Poles. All events, including the battles in which we are taking part, as well as the characters we meet with, have been presented according to their film equivalents. In addition to armed clashes, which in principle constitute the majority of our hero's actions, a great emphasis has also been placed on interactions with independent heroes - skillfully conducting dialogues with them we can get useful information. The possibility of trade is not insignificant either.
Elements taken from role-playing games allow us to develop our characters - appropriate distribution of experience points allows us to access useful skills or use the acquired / purchased items. Entertainment is characterized by high dynamism, an extensive combat system (mounts play a significant role here) and realistic environments, based on the locations depicted in the cinema image.
