The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Description
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is an extensive action game based on a license for the popular graphic novel The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman, created for VR sets and released by Skydance Interactive.
Plot
The action of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners takes place a few years after the outbreak of a mysterious epidemic that turns people into living corpses. Survivors are forced to fight for their lives - not only zombies but also other people are a threat in this inhospitable world.
The game takes us to New Orleans, where a war for influence is fought by two warring factions trying to impose their own rules on the city. The first is The Tower, headed by a certain Mama, and the second are the Reclaimed, led by the charismatic Jean-Baptiste. The city also hides a mystery and its discovery may change the fate of this brutal conflict. During the game we play the role of a character who has to take sides or efficiently navigate between them factions while helping other citzens of New Orleans... or just taking care of yourself.
Mechanics
In The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners the action is shown in FPP. As we play, we traverse vast locations inspired by real-life New Orleans districts (such as Garden District or Bywater). The pillar of the game is the story campaign, during which we perform a variety of tasks. Whom we decide to help, and whom we leave, has an impact on the course of the story; additionally, there is usually more than one way to complete each task.
An important part of the game is the combat. During the battles we make use of a wide range of firearms. We find or craft weapons and ammunition using an extensive crafting system; every piece of equipment can be dismantled and we need both specific resources and special blueprints to create new ones. If we don't have any means of defense at the moment, we can rely on improvised weapons made of items like chairs, engage in hand-to-hand combat or point an empty gun at the enemy, hoping that they can be intimidated (which for obvious reasons does not work on zombies).
While there's nothing to stop us from attacking our opponents head on, it's often better to act in secret (the creators even let us use camouflage that enables us to be safe when surrounded by zombies) and eliminate them from surprise. In addition, the game is made more attractive by the possibility of climbing on surrounding elements such as cars or building walls, which we can use for our own benefit, for example to lose the chase or attack our opponent from above.
Technical aspects
The three-dimensional graphics of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners present high level of execution. The detailed locations may be appealing, but the detailed models of opponents are also worthy of special attention. It is worth noting that the game is extremely brutal.
