The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution is the second part of the action game series launched in 2020 and based on the license of the comic book series The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman. It was developed by Skydance Interactive and similarly to the first one, it was created for virtual reality sets.
Plot
Action of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution takes place after events presented in the first part of series. Game once again takes us on a journey to New Orleans. The Tower continues its march to gain total domination, pushing aside the second faction - the Reclaimed. The protracted war has spawned a third faction; the Exiles are outcasts who have left the ranks of the Tower but have no intention of joining the Reclaimed.
Throughout the game, we play as a tourist who has found himself right in the middle of this chaos. Chased by a powerful Axeman, we have to discover what connects all the threats hanging over New Orleans. It's up to us how our fate will turn out. We can take sides or move between them, help those in need or take care only of ourselves, not shying away from brutality and bloodshed wherever we appear.
Game mechanics
In The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution we observe the action from the first person perspective (FPP). The game is driven by missions commissioned both by particular factions and by outsiders of New Orleans. While completing them we go to the vast locations inspired by various parts of New Orleans. Among them we can find not only already known places but also a number of new ones, such as the French Quarter.
It's worth remembering that who we help affects the course of the story, the balance of power in the city, as well as the protagonist, whose actions change him into the Saint or Sinner. An example is our relationship with the Exiles, with whom we can ally or try to take over their resources by force.
Performing tasks is not only an opportunity to push the plot in the direction we want and gain valuable loot and rewards, but also to face hordes of enemies. On our way there are both regular "walkers" and much more powerful opponents. Among them, the leader is the great Axeman, who follows us constantly and seems to be invincible. As in the predecessor, game allows us both to attack from the front, which is not always a good idea, and to act quietly, carefully taking our steps and getting rid of threats by surprise.
We eliminate enemies using cold weapons and firearms or more sophisticated tools of murder, such as a chainsaw; nothing stands in the way of using the items we have at hand in case of emergency. An extensive crafting system has been implemented in the game. To create new weapons and improve existing ones we need projects and resources; we can find them or obtain them by dismantling unnecessary items.
Technical aspects
Similarly to the first part of the series, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution features high quality graphics.
