The Unseelie is a first person shooter, which was created on the basis of dark visions of ancient Irish and Celtic myths. The player takes on the role of Damien Logan, and the action begins when the hero travels alone by car at night in the November Evening and crosses a road located in the dark Irish forest. The car slips and crashes on the tree. Damien thinks he sees the silhouette of the child on the other side of the road. At some point he finds out that this character was a child, but definitely not a human one. Going deep into the forest, he reaches a comma where he discovers stones buried in the ground, formed in a seven-pointed star (septagram), which attract him to its center with irresistible power. When he reaches the center of the star, the light that led him so far disappears, plunging the forest into darkness. There are strange voices coming from the forests surrounding the Damien, and in the darkness burning red blinds appear.
As the story unfolds, we learn that we are trapped in a world between the living and the dead - the dark primeval forest has trapped a 17th century Irish village in its ears and stopped time there. We have been drawn into the middle of the fight against The Unseelie, hellish creatures from ancient Celtic myths. In order to get out of this dark forest we must enter the sinister kingdom of Tir-Na-Brach-Marbh (Land of Eternal Death) and get seven objects from Celtic legends. Then the portal to our world will open. However, in order to take advantage of it, we have to defeat Finvarra, the King of the Dead.
The authors of the game have put at our disposal quite a large arsenal of weapons (about 30) and the possibility of creating weapons from objects found during the game. And all this will surely be useful to us, because on our way we meet Banshee, Goblins, Demons, Elements or Ghosts - a full overview of demonic characters present in Celtic myths. Some of the monsters encountered are insensitive to material attacks - in such cases we have to use spells and power. In this case we can also combine selected elements - for example, using the power of spirit and fire, we create the ENGINE OF Fires, which for some time fights on our side.
The game offers:
- Three-dimensional environment generated by the AMP II engine (e.g. real-time lighting, matrix shading, high-resolution textures, bump mapping or 32-bit graphics);
- Characters and myths of Celtic and Irish folklore;
- Powers - using the seven powers of the septagram, we will defeat the seven elemental lords before we face the King of Death;
- Eternal Staff - thanks to it we gain access to a wide range of powers and attacks related to Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Wood, Metal and Spirit;
- Riddles - each of the 7 levels of the game contains a number of riddles, which are often associated with a given power.
Unfortunately, in The Unseel we are forced to play alone - the creators did not foresee multiplayer modes.
