The Sims Carnival: SnapCity is a combination of a simple strategy and logical game. It is also the game for the casual players, based on the well-known The Sims game. It is essential to pay attention to the numerous connections with the strategy of the SimCity series. There has been also published other expansion of the same series called The Sims Carnival: Bumper Blast.

During the game, the player becomes the mayor of the city. When the players choose a basic mode, called Story Mode their purpose is to build and develop the metropolis. The game is primarily based on the falling blocks which have to be completed (as in the Tetris) - each of them represents one of the three construction zones. The zones are already well known to fans of the SimCity series – they are: industrial, commercial and residential parcels.

There are about two hundred items which can help the player to develop the city. These are mainly traditional buildings, but there are also unique monuments. Furthermore, some objects are blocked at the beginning of the game. The access to them is obtained as a reward for proper management of the city. As mayor, you must take into account the presence of additional handicaps. They can be traffic jams as well as various disasters, for instance fires, attacks of the creatures from other planets or earthquakes.

What is more, the player can also choose the Creativity Mode. It is more open model of game play. In this mode, the player does not have to deal with various challenges. Instead, there is a possibility to take care of the metropolis development. From the visuals point of view, The Sims Carnival: SnapCity is relatively simplified. The producer has put the greatest emphasis on providing a large variation and a detailed look of the buildings. The action of the game is presented using an isometric projection.
