The Secret World

The Secret World is another MMO game by the creators of such hits as Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures and Anarchy Online. Funcom is also responsible for the creation of two recognized adventure games: The Longest Journey and Dreamfall.

The Secret World is a game representative of the MMO genre embedded in the contemporary realities of large urban agglomerations. Playing as a member of one of the three organizations, we face monsters, magic, and the forces of evil. Of course, beyond the fight against the computer-controlled opponents, the players will also turn against each other in the battle for dominance.

When starting the game, the player chooses one of the three organizations which wants to join: Dragoons, based in Seoul, the Illuminati from New York, and the Knights Templar from London. All the fractions differ from each other in both appearance and their views. Joining one of them, our task will be to create a situation in which it is our faction that becomes the most powerful one and takes most of the territories.

This is achieved, among others, by joining with other players in coteries (clans) and together competing for the control of the sources of Anima. Anima is the key component necessary to create new objects, and the only way to acquire it is to either trade or control points of its extraction (deep inside the planet).

PvP (player vs player) battles are played under the surface of the planet, but they do have consequences on the surface. There, however, the main enemy is the computer and the monsters controlled by it PvE (player vs environment) gameplay. At our disposal are not only melee weapons, but also all sorts of guns, with a highly accurate damage system.

An interesting innovation in The Secret World is no division into any class present. Our character is shaped only by what gun and magic he/she uses, and what kind of quests we complete. Along with this innovation, the lack of experience levels goes along - the player character develops only by increasing certain skills.
