The Pegasus Expedition is a 4X turn-based strategy game in which we set out to conquer space. It was developed by indie studio Kalla Gameworks and published by Fulqrum Games.
Plot
The Pegasus Expedition spreads before us a grim vision of the future. In 2262, conflict-ridden humanity stands on the brink of extinction. The last hope for the entire species is the title expedition to the Pegasus Galaxy, whose members are tasked with finding a new home for themselves. Unfortunately, their arrival unleashes an interstellar war in this corner of space, so that the exploration mission quickly turns into a large-scale military operation.
How the fate of our fleet will turn out depends on our actions and decisions. The developers did their best to make the plot as attractive as possible, so there is no shortage of twists and difficult moral choices.
Game mechanics
In The Pegasus Expedition we play on a vast area covering the entire galaxy. We take control of one of the fleets - Zeus Link - and everything that can ensure its survival in the new, not necessarily hospitable world rests on our shoulders. Since in the initial phase of the game it doesn't look too impressive, it's our head to take care of its expansion and improvement to a degree that allows it to subjugate the largest possible patch of the Pegasus Galaxy.
By ourselves, however, we can't do much here. Fortunately, we have at our disposal a council consisting of our closest subordinates and advisors. They keep us informed of new developments in the galaxy, and help us resolve numerous crises and incidents. In addition, diplomacy plays an important role. In nurturing relations with the various factions, we must be mindful of their mutual ties and animosities. The latter means that establishing cooperation with a particular faction is often preceded by lengthy negotiations, which are not necessarily successful. Nevertheless, the game is worth the candle, because in this way we create our own network of alliances, which sooner or later will be useful to us.
For no matter how good negotiators we may be, we will eventually have to take part in hostilities. Battles are fought in turn-based mode, and in order to succeed on the battlefield it is worthwhile to precede the departure for battle by sending spies, who can provide us with valuable information on the condition of the enemy's troops. Of course, knowledge is not everything. For it is equally important to field the most numerous and technologically advanced fleet possible (so it is worth paying "some" attention to both the economy or economy and technological development), as well as to fill positions with the right people (by which to appoint admirals, governors and special forces agents, you should carefully study the skills and strengths of individual candidates).
