The Norwood Suite is a surrealistic adventure game, which continues the warmth of the accepted Off-Peak. Unlike its predecessor distributed for free, this game is a commercial product. The author of the prototype, the independent developer Cosmo D, is behind its development.
Plot
The Norwood Suite is set in the Hotel Norwood, which used to be a private property of Peter Norwood - one of the best pianists in the world. When the owner of the facility went missing in mysterious circumstances in 1983, it was decided to make the place available to all those willing, headed by musicians looking for sources of inspiration for their work. During the game, we have the opportunity to learn about the fate of the hotel guests and people working at the hotel, as well as its numerous secrets from the times when Norwood walked through the local corridors and rooms.
Mechanics
In The Norwood Suite the action is observed from the first person perspective (FPP). The hotel is much larger than the railway station from Off-Peak, but the gameplay has not changed much. During the game, we walk through the rooms and talk to the characters, finding out more about them and (if necessary or as we wish) helping them to solve minor problems. Looking into every corner of the property, we encounter hidden passages leading to secret rooms (many of which resemble the creations of a mind treated with psychoactive substances) and various secrets. In this way, we learn more about this place, receiving subsequent elements of the plot puzzle, which over time begin to form a coherent whole.
Technical aspects
Although The Norwood Suite looks much better than Off-Peak, it's still not very impressive. We are talking mainly about almost completely stagnant figures; the quality of the textures is also not impressive. However, the game has again been maintained in a surrealistic style, enhanced by a psychedelic soundtrack, so that in the end the audiovisual setting of the game may appeal.
