The Matchless KungFu PC

The Matchless KungFu is a production combining elements of an RPG and a life simulation game, kept in the wuxia style. This term originates from the Chinese language and means stories about heroes representing higher social classes who possess supernatural abilities. The game was developed by the independent Chinese studio HuanMos Game.

Gameplay

Character creation and open world

The Matchless KungFu takes us to a fantasy world inspired by Chinese mythology. We start the adventure by creating a hero or heroine. At this stage we decide on their origin, gender, name, and appearance.

We follow the events from a bird's eye view or from a third-person perspective (TPP). We can explore an open world that is being created before our eyes. The map consists of tiles that we arrange independently, choosing them from the elements unlocked as we progress. Individual tiles were differentiated in terms of the type of location, available resources, or creatures and characters residing on them. Thanks to this, it is up to us to decide things like where the villages will be located, and where the untouched areas will be placed.

Freedom of gameplay

The Matchless KungFu also gives us a lot of freedom in terms of gameplay itself. Our character is immediately thrown into the deep waters and it depends only on us where they will go and what adventures they will experience (and whether they will survive at all). Exploring the game world, we interact with its inhabitants and carry out quests, gradually establishing relationships with them. It is even possible to start a family and have offspring in the game.

In addition, the game allows us to join various sects or establish our own, tame animals that can perform various functions for us (monkeys can beg, horses are used for transportation, and snakes can open locks) or use resources collected along the way to build objects for various purposes (such as houses, taverns or forges).

Combat system and character development

A turn-based combat system has been implemented in the game. On the battlefield, we deliver blows and perform other kung-fu moves, which we primarily learn from the characters we encounter along the way. Interestingly, we don't always have to resort to physical violence. The game also allows us to engage in verbal arguments, or even to act quietly and sneak behind the backs of enemies.

As we progress, we develop our hero or heroine within the Meridian system, unlocking new skills and perfecting those already learned. It is worth remembering that not only enemies pose a danger to us here. Diseases and injuries are also a threat.
