Horror game by Polish studio Forever Entertainment. In The Mansion we get trapped in the nightmares of one of our patients. Our task is to discover his past and escape from the mansion.
The Mansion is a first-person horror game developed by Polish studio Forever Entertainment S.A. In the game we play as a doctor who in a mysterious way gets into nightmares of one of his patients. The centre of the dream is a gloomy mansion from which we have to get out.
Plot
One day an unknown young man comes to the main character's doctor's office. Mumbling something incomprehensible, he opens the door and loses consciousness. The worried doctor starts to examine the boy, but during the examination an unexpected event occurs: the doctor enters the patient's mind, to be precise, the courtyard of a neglected mansion. The building is filled with memories of the dreamer's traumatic past and nightmares that take the form of bloodthirsty beasts. The player's task is to explore the mansion, the mysterious young man's past and find his way back to the real world.
Mechanics
Gameplay in The Mansion is about exploring the mansion and its surroundings, solving puzzles and avoiding enemies. The action is observed from a first person perspective. The mansion is vast and consists of eighteen rooms connected by hidden passages, a garden and a cemetery. While exploring the rooms, we obtain items and come across puzzles. Many of the objects we encounter are interactive, allowing us to manipulate or move them from place to place. In this way we are able to unlock the way.
The main character is not the only person who is in the mansion. It is also inhabited by several NPCs and aggressive monsters. While we can fight them, this should be a last resort for us. For much of the game we will be running away from enemies or avoiding open confrontation.
Game modes
The Mansion offers a single-player campaign only.
Technical aspects
The game features a nice, atmospheric graphic design. The places we visit are old, run-down, conveying a feeling of dread and hidden secrets. The soundtrack further enhances the gaming experience.
