The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV is fantasy jRPG. According to the title, this is the fourth instalment of the popular Trails of Cold Steel sub-series, launched in 2013. At the same time, this series is part of a larger brand, The Legend of Heroes, whose roots go back to Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes released in 1989. All these games were developed by Nihon Falcom, a Japanese company.

Plot

The game is a direct continuation of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and is the culmination of the whole tetralogy. Therefore, without knowing the previous three parts it is not easy to understand all the script.

When the action begins the Ereborian Empire stands on the brink of war. The 7th Class heroes will try to stop it. The fact that their mentor, Rean Schwarzer, disappeared without a trace will not help them. Heroes will have to find him to prevent the destruction of the continent, as well as recruit the world's greatest heroes to help.

Mechanics

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV is a classic jRPG. During the game we lead a team of characters exploring the world, completing tasks and collecting experience points. The battles take place in a turn-based system.

The game does not introduce any revolutionary changes compared to the previous installments. Only combat capabilities have been extended. Each character from Class VII has gained a unique S-Craft skill. In addition to the standard fighting arts, the heroes can also use their special versions, which are more powerful, but their activation absorbs the entire action bar. Additionally, this time in the fight you can summon powerful mechs.

In line with the tradition of the series, the gameplay is varied by numerous mini-games, such as fishing, poker or blackjack.
