The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter, released on PC, PSP and PSV, is a Japanese RPG, the second part of Nihon Falcom's trilogy. The English version was prepared by the Carpe Fulgur team, known from the translation of Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale.
Plot
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter is a direct continuation of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky First Chapter and its action begins shortly after the events from the first game. We once again move to the fantasy land known as the Liberl Kingdom, which slowly regains its power after the effectively repulsed but extremely destructive invasion of the Erebonian Empire. In Liberl's government, however, there are conspirators who will do everything they can to take power from the benevolent queen. Players control a party consisting of Estelle Bright, the daughter of the legendary Liberl defender, and her half-brother Joshua, who possesses extraordinary combat skills that are far beyond the capabilities of his still young age. This duo, together with friends, will try to stop the conspiracy to control the minds of the kingdom's inhabitants and discover the truth about the ancient civilization on the ruins of which Liberl was founded.
Mechanics
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter is a classic Japanese RPG, so it's all about exploring the world, taking on quests, collecting treasures and fighting battles with enemies. As in the first part, the game uses a turn-based system. During the fights, the maps are covered with a tactical grid - a key role is to correctly position your party members in the right way. The production has a rich character development system, which is further enhanced by the fact that the authors have made it possible to import saved game states, so you can go through the whole trilogy with your own characters.
