The Last Crown: Midnight Horror is an adventure horror game for PC. It has been developed by Darkling Room studio (previously known as XXv Productions), responsible for all previous games from the series and Dark Fall trilogy.
Plot
With The Last Crown: Midnight Horror for PC, we are given another chance to play as Nigel Danvers, a researcher who investigates paranormal activities. The story takes place in October 31, during Halloween. Our hero intents on spending night exploring the haunted bar in small port town. He needs to be quick, because the atmosphere of Halloween makes border between worlds of living and dead very thin, meaning that if he misses his chance, he will have to wait an entire year for another.
The plot focuses on supernatural aspects, but they are not simply creators; imaginations – developers based their story on old legends and beliefs related to Celtic festival of Samhain, of which Halloween is a sanitized version.
It is note-worthy that even though players will meet characters from previous games, the game has been developed a standalone production, meaning that it is playable without knowing of events from earlier entries in the series.
Game mechanics
The Last Crown: Midnight Horror is a classic adventure game, so we mainly explore locations, collect items and solve puzzles. The last element is varied by various gadgets, used by modern ghost hunters: special cameras that can register electromagnetic waves invisible to human eye.
Logical challenges also consists elements of old pagan rituals, as well as minigames based on traditional Halloween’s games of Great Britain.
