The Haunting of Joni Evers

The Haunting of Joni Evers is an adventure game with horror elements, which allows us to follow the fate of the title character and her broken family. The production was developed by the independent American team Causeway Studios and is its debut project.

Storyline

The action of The Haunting of Joni Evers takes place in the town of Harvest in the US state of Oklahoma, to be exact - in an old mansion known as Cunningham House. Although the place was once bustling with life, Joni Evers now lives here alone, separated from her family.

A quarrel that occurs one day between the protagonist and her only friend draws Joni into a whirlpool of strange events. Trying to fathom their nature, we learn stories and secrets from the life of Joni's family, as well as the reasons why our protégée leads a lonely life. Besides, in this way we can also learn whether the protagonist is afflicted by supernatural powers or by mundane grief and sadness. All this makes us gain the chance to reunite her with her loved ones over time.

Gameplay

In The Haunting of Joni Evers, we view events from a first-person perspective (FPP). During the game, we traverse the rooms of the mansion, interacting with objects and items, as well as solving environmental puzzles. By looking at family photographs or reading diaries, for example, we gradually learn more and more about Joni and her family.

Technical issues

In The Haunting of Joni Evers we can hear music composed by Gustavo Coutinho, known, among other things, for his soundtrack for the game PayDay 3. The voice of the main character was lent by actress Kelly Pekar.
