The Guild 2: Pirates of The European Seas Description
The Guild 2: Pirates of the European Seas for PC is the first official expansion for The Guild 2, an interesting mix of a strategy and a cRPG taking place during the early Renaissance. As can be easily surmised, the new expansion gives us access to European seas, introducing new possibilities of growth for traders and pirates alike.
Mechanics
Aside from picturesque sunsets, the players also get the ability to trade with numerous European ports. Good trade relations along with the ability to listen to our interlocutors give us access to valuable rumors that can lead to creation of worthwhile and safe trade routes that can be utilized by our ships. Unfortunately, complete safety is practical unattainable – our wares often fall to liking of greedy and well-armed pirates, as well as the Mother Nature herself. Fight against the violent storms is rather problematic and uneven at best, but the attacks of aggressive corsairs give us more options to respond. Cannons, tactical finesse, or the support of allied ships can enable us to fend off a reckless pirate attack and save the valuable cargo.
In short, the new expansion introduces an extensive sea trade system, as well as sea battles. Aside from that, the authors from 4Head Studios created a complex system of intrigue and sabotage, somewhat of a trademark of the Renaissance era. The choice is ours: we can either engage in somewhat boring port-to-port trade, on a constant lookout for pirate ships, or assume control over a corsair ship with a bloodthirsty crew and engage in careless buccaneering.
Pirates of the European Seas offers a completely new campaign that will take at least ten hours of active gameplay. We’ve also received access to three extensive and complex maps, as well as a set of previously unavailable buildings and trades. The authors also introduced a number of realistic ships and boats that enable us to engage in sea travels.
