The Flower Collectors is an adventure game, offering a criminal story inspired by noir cinema. The game was developed by independent Austrian studio Mi'pu'mi Games, which co-created such titles as Control, The Settlers and Hitman 2.
Plot
The action of The Flower Collectors takes place in an alternative reality, namely in Barcelona from 1977, inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. The main hero of this game is Jorge, a former police officer with a difficult past, chained to a wheelchair. The hero spends time in his apartment, sitting on the balcony and observing the nearest area. One stormy night Jorge witnessed a murder, which pushes him to cooperate with a journalist named Melinda. The heroes hope that their unusual cooperation will allow them to carry out an investigation, through which they will discover the identity of the criminal.
Mechanics
In The Flower Collectors the action is shown from the first person perspective (FPP). During the game, we play the role of Jorge, so our possibilities are very limited. Equipped with a camera and binoculars, the protagonist observes the estate, and when he encounters something interesting, he takes a walkie-talkie and informs Melinda who is actively involved in the investigation. Following our instructions, the woman interrogates potential witnesses (often to obtain the necessary information, she has to first perform a small task) and also solves environmental puzzles. In this way she gains evidence, which at the end of each day we analyze on our own, coming closer to establishing the correct chronology of events and discovering the identity of the killer.
Technical aspects
The graphic design of The Flower Collectors has been maintained in cartoon style and warm colors. The graphics is detailed enough to present a convincing picture of the Spanish metropolis from the period of political transformation that followed the death of General Francisco Franco.
