[1:06] Feather launch trailer
WayTooManyGames: 5 / 10 by Leonardo Faria
Feather is alright when it comes to its presentation, but I’m still trying to understand what the hell is its purpose. I’ve been flying around, looking at some cute low-poly sights, and wondering if there was some objective to complete, if I should flying through all rings and amass some collectibles. It’s just pointless. I’m not saying the game is bad due to its nonviolent and relaxing approach, on the contrary. But please, give us something to do in it.

A serene and pleasant attempt at a relaxation experience that's let down by Switch performance issues and a steep cost of entry
Seafoam Gaming: 3 / 10 by Connor Nichols
Feather could have easily been a great relaxation game to unwind with, if it had an even remote sense of content to mess around with. But with nothing of significance to find, abysmal framerate drops (despite this game being out for months, this was never fixed in handheld mode for some baffling reason) and a boring world that you can pretty much see everything of in mere minutes, this bird sim is a really sad example of a great idea with bad execution, both in performance and scope.
Feather Description
In The Feather players assume the role of a bird discovering the skies of a vast island, where the atmosphere and soundtrack deepen the impression of immersion into the in-game world. The game was created by Samurai Punk studio known for creating such productions as Screen Cheat, and The American Dream.
Mechanics
The Feather is an artistic game focused on exploring the island in the form of a bird and admiring its breathtaking views. Players can see forests, meadows, rivers, and fields, but also high mountains and beaches. Each of them is connected with experiencing a different atmosphere, especially that it can be influenced not only by atmospheric ambient songs but also by the day and night cycle.
The Feather itself is calm and more of an experience. There are no elements of fear, struggle or unpleasant surprises. It's all about the bird's flight, which is the most fun to control. It is well thought out, perfectly responsive and gives the impression of real control of a living bird. And although there are trees or other obstacles to avoid, the collision with them is not connected with the death of one's little hero. Instead, players will only hear the unpleasant sound of a collision.
There are special rings on the island, which if players decide to fly through, they offer them a change of the song played in the background. There are nine of those available in the game.
Technical aspects
The Feather adventure can be experienced in single player mode, but also with up to three friends. However, this does not involve a change in the game itself.
