A 2D platform game created by two indie game developers: Tyler Glaiel (known from Closer) and Edmund McMillen (known from The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy). In The End is Nigh you play as a strange creature called Ash, one of the last beings that survived the end of the world. Traveling through the ruins of civilization, inhabited by bloodthirsty mutants, Ash gathers body parts of the dead to create a friend for himself.

Plot
You play as a strange creature called Ash, one of the last beings that survived the end of the world. He travels through the ruins of civilization, inhabited by bloodthirsty mutants. His goal is to build a friend for himself and he tries to accomplish that by gathering body parts of the dead.
Although the game's atmosphere is grim, it is also full of black comedy.
Mechanics
In terms of mechanics, The End is Nigh for PC and SWITCH is a classic 2D platform game. You journey through maps, which are full of enemies, gather items, and avoid dangers. Exploration facilitated by Ash' ability to climb walls. The game was developed with veteran genre players in mind, so its difficulty level is very high.
The campaign features over 600 levels divided into about a dozen chapters. During the game you also collect cartridges, which allow you to play various minigames. There game features 80 achievements to unlock, many secrets to discover, and several alternative endings.
Technical aspects
The End is Nigh features 2D visuals. Most maps are high-resolution, but the minigames features a more oldschool, big-pixel style, resembling the 8-bit console productions.
