Dark Brotherhood is the fourth major addition to the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, released for PC, PS4 and XONE. The DLC was free for the subscribers, while the price for the other users is 2000 Crowns (in-game currency). Just like the core game, Dark Brotherhood for PC, PS4 and XONE was created by ZeniMax Online, owned by Bethesda Softworks.
Plot
You receive an invitation to join the Dark Brotherhood. It's an assassins' guild – which should be familiar for the fans of The Elder Scrolls – and it's now trying to expand their influence on the Gold Coast in western part of the Cyrodiil province. This gives you the chance to explore the locations from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (especially the cities of Anvil and Kvatch) while fulfilling the contracts and assassinating people designated by the mysterious organization. It doesn't mean, though, that the new tasks will bring you to Cyrodiil only — they require you to travel across all of Tamriel.
Mechanics
The new region of the Gold Coast features many PvE elements. Apart from fulfilling the various Dark Brotherhood contracts (both generic ones and those being the part of the main campaign), you can also do Bounty Quests, which can be received in Anvil and Kvatch. The DLC also features two small delves — Hrota Cave and Garlas Age — as well as two boss fights: one being a tournament in the Kvatch Arena, the other — a minotaur hunt in Tribune's Folly.
Joining the Dark Brotherhood also earns you a new skill line with passive “assassin” abilities, and new items you can either find or craft. What's more, you don't have to meet any minimum level requirements to experience everything the DLC has to offer.
It's also noteworthy that the DLC's release was accompanied by an update for all PC, PS4 and XONE users, which has e.g. done away with the Veteran Ranks and added the option of poison-making to the Alchemy system.
