Undoubtedly, this is the most underestimated adventure game ever created by LucasArts. The script prepared by Steven Spielberg is not a very original one, but it is certainly a solid story about man's fight against inevitable evil, first in the form of an asteroid rushing towards the Earth, then a foreign civilization.

The game stands out from the canon of typically entertaining adventures, served by LucasArts from the beginning of its activity. Of course, in The Dig we will also meet comedy threads, but they are in a minority, besides, the humor is quite heavy in reception and not everyone must appeal to everyone. As there are not many people to talk to in the program, decision making through dialogues goes to the background. In The Dig there are many puzzles more characteristic for Myst than previous products of the company. There are not many items that can be operated on, so a player accustomed only to manipulating equipment can simply not cope with puzzles.

Interface is a classic "point & click", in which actions are taken depending on what we are currently pointing at with the mouse cursor. The audio-visual setting is, as usual with LucasArts, simply mad, although on the other hand not everyone has to be enthralled by the overwhelming emptiness of the environment almost every step of the way. The Dig is a game of many contradictions, which defends an unconventional approach to the subject and an interesting plot, and the latter in adventure games is, after all, the most important. It is certainly a product for real connoisseurs, a player looking for entertainment typical for other LucasArts productions will not find anything interesting here.
