Nemesis was a creature whose continued existence posed a serious threat to the peace of the whole land. Bearing in mind the immense danger, you prepared the basic combat spells and set off towards the catacombs, where your opponent set up a hiding place for himself. After a great, but also a difficult fight you managed to defeat Nemesis. Everything seemed to indicate that the problem was finally solved. As it soon turned out, however, not for long. Nemesis' subordinates erected a mausoleum in honour of their dark master, bringing the rule of terror back to the land. The villagers have hired you to put in order the evil creatures that systematically kidnap defenceless people. With no way out, you agree to help them by trying to find the entrance to the mausoleum in the nearby cemetery....

We observe the action from the perspective of a third person. The main hero has an offensive spell at his disposal, which most enemies place one shot at a time. In addition to the basic spell, a magician can also use other, more destructive formulas, but must first find them in a vast labyrinth. According to the plot of the program, the first stage of the struggle is the old cemetery, where the entrance to the huge mausoleum is hidden. We will be led to it by clues in the form of rolls of paper, which have also been hidden in various nooks and crannies of the labyrinth. Some doors are opened with different coloured keys, sometimes you will also have to turn into small cracked walls. The game is not very complicated, but the large number of dead ends, monsters and hidden rooms, certainly does not make the task easier.
Although the game uses the same engine that can be admired in Wolfenstein 3D, the visual setting is a bit poorer, due to the limited number of colors (exactly sixteen). In The Catacomb Abyss you can't run - this element was implemented only during the production of B.J. Blazkowicz's program about adventures. The game was a decent success, thanks to which the authors of the game were tempted to see its next editions....
