The Brew Barons PC

The Brew Barons is an innovative game that combines adventure and simulation elements, with additional mechanics derived from arcade flight shooters and economic strategies. The game was developed by an independent team called Lifetap Studios, and the source of inspiration for the creators were both the Mediterranean landscapes and the movie The Scarlet Pilot (Porco Rosso) by Studio Ghibli.

Plot

The Brew Barons takes us on a journey to a world evoking associations with the Mediterranean of the 1930s. The peaceful life of its inhabitants was disrupted by pirates who brutally monopolized the local brewing market.

During the game, we play the role of a member of a group of seaplane pilots who decide to challenge the villains and start brewing their own beer and then distribute it around the world.

Mechanics

In The Brew Barons, we travel through the picturesque game world aboard our seaplane. Exploring the vast territory is necessary to gather ingredients for our brewery. The game allows us to choose a main and secondary pilot, each of whom has an individual set of strengths and weaknesses.

Pilot characteristics can prove to be extremely important when it comes to confrontations with opponents. Our actions do not go unnoticed by pirates who use their planes and other units such as submarines against us. During dynamic clashes, we must be in constant motion, avoiding enemy fire and performing accurate attacks.

Between each expedition, we return to the base, where we can change the plane (to one of those we unlock as we progress), as well as modify it, choosing weapons and various upgrades. Our base is the mentioned brewery, where we conduct distillation and fermentation processes, as well as brew beers based on previously obtained ingredients. After receiving the finished beverage, we can pour it into our own designed bottles and start distributing it around the world. There is also nothing stopping us from opening our own bar and selling our beer to customers.

We gradually gather resources that allow us not only to develop our business, but also to increase our combat potential. Over time, news of our deeds spreads around the world, which leads other pilots, who share the same goal, to join us.

Technical aspects

The graphic design of the game The Brew Barons is maintained in a cartoon style inspired by the work of Studio Ghibli.
