13 years after the cinema premiere, The Boondock Saints has been adapted in the form of a video game. The project was undertaken by Critical Mass Interactive studio, the developers of such productions as Tron: The Video Game and Epic Mickey. Filmmakers have also been actively involved in the work on the title, headed by Troy Duffy, Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus and David Della Rocco.

Plot

The Boondock Saints Video Game is based on the themes presented in the film, but it is not a faithful copy of the original script. Just like in the original, players follow Connor and Murphy McManus, brothers who are convinced of the mission entrusted to them by God to eradicate all evil from the streets of Boston. During the game, you can meet a number of characters known from the film, including the gangster David Dell Rocco, FBI agent Paul Smecker, or Il Duce.

Mechanics

The game has been designed mainly for two-person cooperation mode. Players have the opportunity to show off their spectacular shooting skills, wreaking havoc among gangsters, criminals and various thugs.

Technical aspects

The Boondock Saints Video Game's audio-visual setting reflects the atmosphere of the film as much as possible. The game is set int the poor districts of Boston. It also has a large dose of violent scenes and an Irish soundtrack. We can also find references to the Catholic religion, including the prayer beginning with the words "And shepherds we shall be...".
