The Blind Prophet Description
The Blind Prophet is a point-and-click adventure game developed by independent studio Ars Goetia. The production was created thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, and the source of inspiration for its creators were not only the classics of the genre, led by Broken Sword and Blade Runner series, but also iconic comic books like Sin City or Hellboy.
Plot
In The Blind Prophet we find ourselves in the city of Rotbork, which plunges into ruin, succumbing more and more to demonic influences. The main character of the game is Bartholomeus - one of the twelve Apostles, or divine soldiers, who for over two thousand years have been trying to restore the balance between good and evil, appearing both on Earth and in Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. The plot has a non-linear construction, and how the fate of the protagonist and Rotbork will unfold depends on the decisions made by the player.
Mechanics
In The Blind Prophet, we travel through a city of ninety-nine maps bathed in the darkness, talk to NPCs and make morally ambiguous choices that influence the story's further course. In addition, there is a number of puzzles waiting to be solved that require acquiring specific items and using them in various ways, or carefully combing through the location in search of useful tips. The game features a simple and intuitive user interface.
Technical aspects
Two-dimensional graphics of The Blind Prophet were made in a cel-shading technique. The plot is conveyed mainly through interludes consisting of static scenes in comic-book style. During the game we are accompanied by a climatic, gloomy soundtrack.
