The Basement Collection is a set of several games by Edmund McMillen. The developer is mainly known for his later works, including Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac, but in fact he has a dozen or so other titles to his credit.
In The Basement Collection we receive nine games by Edmund McMillen created before his work on the legendary Super Meat Boy. The set shows how versatile and often original developer is a co-founder of Team Meat studio. Many of his productions, including Aether or Coil, have won awards at various plebiscites and industry events - so this is an interesting retrospective of his career.
The Basement Collection includes the following games: Aether exploration adventure game, dark Time Fcuk logic game, Spewer platformer, Super Meat Boy's prototype, Grey Matter "anti-shooter", experimental Coil and spider-like creature simulator - Triachnid. Each game has been slightly refreshed and tweaked. McMillen has also enriched them with new chapters, music and graphics.
The package contains a few other interesting facts that may be of interest to fans of the author of Meat Boy. These include two secret unlockable games and dozens of comics and sketches. An equally interesting bonus seems to be over half an hour of audio interviews and several minutes of unpublished fragments shot during work on India Game: The Movie, a famous documentary about independent game developers.
