The 7th Guest 3 is the third part of the adventure series, which also includes 7th Guest and The 11th Hour released in 1993. The game was developed by Trilobyte Games studio, which is also responsible for the previous two editions of the series.

In The 7th Guest 3 we return to the mysterious property known to lovers of the cycle. During the adventures we will again come across ghosts, and the plot will reveal the truth about the fate of the owner of the house, i.e. the inventor of toys named Henry Stauf. However, the residence is not a carbon copy of the one we have visited in the past. Instead, its interior has been thoroughly rebuilt and the changed rooms and corridors have been filled with new riddles, challenges and artefacts. All these modifications are caused by the transformation of the estate into a museum devoted to the achievements of Stauf. However, the change of purpose of the residence did not expel spirits from its interior. Some of them will help us, while others will try to prevent us.

The action is shown from the perspective of the first person. Unlike the previous games in the series, which were based on prerendered graphics, the locations in The 7th Guest 3 were generated in 3D, thus allowing for a fully free exploration of the residence. What hasn't changed are the basic mechanisms of fun, which will boil down mainly to exploring the property and solving ingenious puzzles. The riddles prepared by the authors are very demanding and often multistage, and finding a solution requires a lot of mental effort. In addition, the three-dimensional transition diversified the puzzles and provided fresh logical challenges.
