An FPP adventure game set in the style of a psychological drama. The story of Thalassa: Edge of the Abyss takes place in 1905. We play as the diver Cam who must explore the shipwreck of the titular Thalassa and learn about the last moments of the ship's crew.
Thalassa: Edge of the Abyss is an adventure game set in the atmosphere of a psychological drama. The game was developed by the independent team Sarepta Studio from Norway, which has the project My Child Lebensborn in its portfolio.
Plot
The action of Thalassa: Edge of the Abyss takes place in 1905. The main character of the game is Cam, who belongs to a pioneering team of deep-sea divers, making up the crew of the titular Thalassa.
Unfortunately, as a result of a tragic accident, the ship sank along with almost all the people on board. Cam, as the only survivor, must dive back into the depths to investigate its wreck and discover what the last moments of her loved ones looked like, as well as understand the reasons for the disaster.
Mechanics
In Thalassa: Edge of the Abyss we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). During the game we engage in a quiet, lonely exploration of the wreck of Thalassa, guided by the voice of Bailey, who watches over us from the surface. In addition to the rugged diving suit, Cam's forearm is equipped with other useful gadgets and tools that facilitate her diving expedition (like a makeshift flashlight) or allow her to pave the way further.
By interacting with objects (such as notes or photographs) belonging to individual members of the ship's crew, we get to know their owners, discovering their personality and problems that plagued them, as well as finding out what bonds connected them with the other members of the group. However, what is most important - in this way we discover the next elements of the plot puzzle, step by step learning about the last moments of Thalassa and its crew.
