Tetris Effect Description
Tetris Effect is a hybrid of logical and arcade game, based on the license of the legendary Tetris - one of the most famous video games in history, developed in 1984 by Alexey Pajitnov, which has been embodied for years. The production was created by Resonair and Monstars studios. It was released by Enhance, whose founder and head is Tetsuya Mizuguchi - author of such titles as Rez, Lumines or Child of Eden.
Mechanics
While playing Tetris Effect, we arrange blocks (the so-called Tetrimina) of various shapes falling from the top of the screen; after filling in the horizontal line, this line disappears, making room for the next elements of the puzzle. The game is supervised by a point counter, which reflects the effectiveness of our actions. The game consists of more than thirty stages, each with its own unique style, its own background, background music and finally sound effects; levels reminiscent of cosmic space, dense forest or ocean depth.
Unlike the original, this title offers the possibility of stopping time, so that players can, for example, rethink tactics in a crisis situation (the game comes to an end when we run out of space on the screen to lay another block).
Game modes
Tetris Effect has several gameplay variants, among which you can find Marathon, Sprint and Ultra modes known from the original. In addition, players can adjust the difficulty level to their individual preferences and skills.
Technical aspects
Tetris Effect is based on Unreal Engine 4 technology. The audio-visual layer of the game has been maintained in an abstract style and evokes associations with earlier works by Mizuguchi. While playing, everything vibrates and moves to the rhythm of trance music, sparkling with the feast of colours. The title uses the goggles of virtual reality, although it does not require them to work.
