Talisman: Digital 5th Edition Description
Talisman: Digital 5th Edition is the electronic equivalent of the popular board game. This is the fifth edition – or rather the sixth, if we count versions 4 and 4.5 separately – of the cult board game originally developed by Robert Harris in 1983, originally titled Talisman. The digital adaptation was handled by Nomad Games studio, which also transferred the previous edition to the realm of electronic entertainment.
Gameplay
Talisman: Digital 5th Edition is an adventure board game in which players take on the roles of adventurers (Seekers), traversing an archetypal fantasy land. They become stronger, hoping to acquire one of the titular artifacts and then possess the great power of the legendary Crown of Command before their rivals do so.
As they travel around the board – divided into the Outer, Middle and Inner Realms – players visit various locations, fight each other and draw Adventure cards. They encounter monsters and other enemies, recruit companions (friends) to their party, collect gold and items, and activate global events. Every Seeker has individual statistics and skills, which determine, for example, how many Spell cards they can hold in reserve.
Changes in 5th edition
The biggest difference compared to 4th edition is the new graphic design in Talisman: Digital 5th Edition. In addition to this, the pool of Seekers was slightly modified. The following characters were made available in the "base game": Sorceress, Warlock, Elf, Ghoul, Priest, Dwarf, Monk, Troll, Prophetess, Warrior, Assassin and Thief.
Some changes have also introduced to the rules. For example, losing the last life point no longer means having to play a new character from the beginning. Instead, we return to the Outer Realm and "buy back" life for gold. The development of strength and power is now progressive - it becomes slower when we have more points of a given characteristic. Fate points can also be used to make more precise moves (by a maximum of six areas in the chosen direction).
Hot seat and other game modes
In Talisman: Digital 5th Edition we can play alone or in multiplayer mode. It is possible over the Internet or on a single device, taking turns (so-called hot seat mode).
New engine and Deck Editor
For the needs of Talisman: Digital 5th Edition, Nomad Games studio rebuilt its engine from scratch to ensure better graphics and gameplay. It also prepared a Deck Editor, a tool that allows us to play with any customized decks of Adventure or Spell cards.
