Tales of Gaia is an MMORPG title created by Snail Games studio – a team responsible for developing games like Taichi Panda series and Age of Wulin: Legend of the Nine Scrolls.
Plot
Tales of Gaia is set in a fantasy world created for PC MMORPG title Dark and Light, but its event takes place long before the invasion of the army of darkness on the titular Gaia. The planet is torn by civil war between conflicted races of elves, dwarves and humans, who try to dominate other races using a power of dragons and the potential of their magic, no matter the cost.
Game mechanics
At the beginning of the game, we are welcomed by simplified character creation system, deciding their heroes’ race, sex, appearance and specialization. Then they must go through prologue to learn the situation of the world and gameplay’s rules, after which they can start the real adventure.
Tales of Gaia uses third-person perspective (TPP) and gives us a vast, open world to explore either by foot or on ground and aerial mounts. Our main activity comes in performing missions given by NPCs and fighting enemies. As we progress through the game, our characters grow stronger as we get better equipment and develop their battle skills, letting us take on more dangerous tasks.
As we play, we meet opponents controlled by artificial intelligence (with overgrown bosses at the top) and characters of other players. Everyone can cooperate with each other (for example during raids), but they can also compete in PvP modes. There is also an option of creating our own guild or joining to already existing organizations.
Technical aspects
Three-dimensional visuals of Tales of Gaia stand out with its high quality. Both refined characters’ models and locations rich with details are appealing, as well as visual effect accompanying attacks and spells.
