Szrot is a racing game set in the post-Soviet realities of Eastern Europe. It was developed by an independent studio Kontraktor Entertainment Bureau.

Game mechanics

The game allows you to take part in illegal races on the streets of Eastern European cities shortly after the fall of communism. All we have to do in order to enter the competition is to own the title car - our uncle's wrecked car (titled szrot).

The game takes place on various maps, from Belgrade to the forests on the Finnish-Russian border. Each of these levels has a mostly open structure, offering great freedom of exploration and challenge choices. In addition to the traditional races, side quests are also available, such as helping old ladies carry their groceries or driving drunk friends back to their homes.

By winning races and completing other tasks we earn money that we can invest in repairs and upgrading our car, which allows us to take on more demanding challenges.

An additional variety is the presence of the police on the roads. Many of the actions we perform are illegal, so we often have to run away from the law enforcement officers.

Game modes

Szrot enables you to play solo or compete with other players in multiplayer on split screen.

Technical aspects

The strong point of the game is the realization. The authors focused on a pixelated retro style reminiscent of productions from the mid-1990s. Such graphics compose well with the atmosphere of post-Soviet cities.
