Action game with isometric view that tells the story of a world controlled by machines. SYNTHETIK 2 focuses on the multitude of available weapons and upgrades, and we can play it solo or in co-op mode. The game is a sequel to SYNTHETIK: Legion Rising.

SYNTHETIK 2 is an isometric roguelike action game set in a future world where robots have taken over humanity. The game develops the formula of the previous parts of the series, giving great scope for customisation of weapons and skills of the characters. It was developed by the creators of the series, Flow Fire Games studio.

Plot

The story in SYNTHETIK 2 is in fact only an excuse to sow destruction among robots, divided into several factions commanded by Generals. As an android we have to defeat their successive waves on various maps to reach the final goal: The Gods, the machines that control the robots and guard the so-called Heart of Armageddon.

Mechanics

All the action in the game is observed from an isometric view, and the majority of the game is about shooting hordes of enemies. Appropriately operating the viewfinder we decide in which line the fired bullets will fly. This is important because hitting different parts of the robots inflicts more or less damage on them - even the headshot mechanics, unusual for top-down games, are implemented.

Each of the guns has its own characteristics and other parameters, such as range, damage or magazine capacity. We influence all these features by upgrading a given weapon or changing the type of ammunition used. During the firing we have to remember about overheating of the equipment - too high temperature results in stopping the fire, which can be fatal if we are surrounded by enemies. It is also worth remembering that our movement affects the accuracy and recoil of our rifles. In addition, the developers have implemented an unusual system of reloading, requiring us to control this action from start to finish, and not just a single click to trigger the action.

In addition to weapons, we also develop the main character. In the game, there are many classes specialising in the use of specific equipment, but by acquiring and using machine technology we also shape our own. From time to time items fly out from defeated rivals, which we collect simply by passing over them. During the game we should also keep in mind that death in the game is permanent.

Game modes

SYNTHETIK 2 can be played either solo or in online co-op mode.

Technical aspects

Thanks to the engine improvements made for the game by the developers, SYNTHETIK 2 at the time of its release had an eye-pleasing graphic design maintained in a blue-orange colour scheme.
