Survivor GameZ

Survivor GameZ is an expansion for the shooter DayZ, which introduces a new battle royale mode, governed by a set of original rules. The game refers to the title of the popular mod for Arma II, although it was developed by other people. Czech studio Bohemia Interactive (the devs of the basic version of DayZ and the aforementioned Arma / Armed Assault series) is responsible for its development.

Plot

Survivor GameZ is set in a world, in which civilization has been destroyed by a virus that transforms humans into zombies. The players take on the role of survivors who are trying to get by in a new, dangerous reality - in conditions where a companion can be an enemy worse than the undead.

Mechanics

Survivor GameZ is played differently than the base version of DayZ. The rules of the game also differ from those of traditional battle royale games such as Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, Fortnite or Apex Legends, although the main goal is the same: we have to survive longer than all other participants in the game.

The gameplay is divided into three phases, during which the players have to move between several different zones on the map. It is worth noting, that the first two of them have physical boundaries - when going outside the designated area we take damage. Our goal is to find the best equipment - and for the most powerful items we will have to compete with others (they land in so-called "hot spots" and have a unique character).

The last stage of the game is governed by different rules. On the map - in a specific place (sawmill), marked with green smoke - a special object is dropped. As soon as the smoke turns red, all surviving players start to take damage - the bigger the further away they are from the item. The only way to prevent death is to activate the object, but it can only save one person. The competition lasts until the very end - we must first capture and then defend the key location.

It is worth noting, that Survivor GameZ has also changed the rules of using healing items. In this mode, morphine immediately restores most of our health, while vitamins and a saline bag offer a long-lasting but weak healing effect. The second item also helps to revive an unconscious companion. EpiPen works similarly, but in its case the healing effect is immediate (but weak).

Game modes

Survivor GameZ can be played only with other players. The mainstay of the game is the online multiplayer mode.

Technical aspects

Survivor GameZ does not introduce any significant changes to DayZ's visuals. The game features decent visuals based on the original engine used by Bohemia Interactive. The title realistically depicts areas modeled on post-communist, eastern Europe. The light effects and character models are also solidly presented - the latter are also distinguished by detailed animations.
