Survive the Fall PC

Survive the Fall is an RPG developed and published by the Polish Angry Bulls Studio. Shown in an isometric view, this title combines elements of survival games and real-time strategies (RTS).

Plot

As a result of a global cataclysm - initiated in 2023 by an asteroid strike - which caused climate changes, fires, and extreme temperature fluctuations, the end of civilization as we knew it has come. The world, still unfriendly, was shrouded in eternal autumn. The remaining living people finally have the courage to emerge from their hiding places and face the new, post-apocalyptic reality.

The player takes on the role of one of the survivors who tries to survive in this dangerous world, dominated by wildlife and nature. The old world was changed by a mysterious substance called Stasis. Surviving and building a settlement seems easier among allies, but resources - including medicine and ammunition - are so scarce that they must be chosen very carefully, as many people are just waiting to openly or secretly attack us, stabbing us in the back.

Game modes

Survive the Fall features only single-player mode. The story campaign takes place on three large, open & diverse maps and provides dozens of hours of fun.

Mechanics

As mentioned before, the action in Survive the Fall is observed in an isometric view. The player can control up to three characters - the main protagonist and his two companions. The gameplay is conducted in real time (without taking turns), but at any moment of the game you can switch to planning mode, slightly reminiscent of an active pause. The difference is that during planning mode time does not fully stop, it only significantly slows down.

This technique is especially useful during combat, because the fights in Survive the Fall are very dynamic. A slower pace of events on the screen allows the player to adjust tactics on the fly and issue commands to all three characters, having thought about it beforehand. Conflicts occur both during exploration - during which we collect resources (including food), hunt and discover the secrets of the post-apocalyptic world - as well as during main and side quests, which push the plot forward.

Additionally, an important element of the gameplay in Survive the Fall is the regular expansion of the settlement (base) founded by the player. Its inhabitants should be provided with food and care, including means to heat their modest cottages during cold, autumn nights. In return, they will produce resources for us, which we will then use during missions, e.g. to create weapons and other useful items.

Settlers also need to be protected. Therefore, sometimes it might be a better idea to leave companions at the base to look after what we have already achieved, instead of taking them on an escapade. This means, however, that the protagonist will be left to rely solely on himself. In such a situation, it is necessary to avoid fighting and utilize stealth.

Technical aspects

Survive the Fall supports various languages. Depending on the language the game may only offer translated text, or a full dubbing on top of that.
