Super Mario 3D All-Stars Description
Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a collection of three remastered classic 3D platformers with Mario in the lead role. Nintendo is responsible for preparing the bundle. It was announced at Nintendo Switch in September 2020 and is part of the loud celebration of the thirty-fifth anniversary of the Super Mario Bros series, which was born in 1985 on the NES console. Super Mario 3D All-Stars has been released in a limited edition (both digital and boxed), which can only be bought between September 18, 2020 and March 31, 2021.
Super Mario 3D All-Stars consists of the following games:
Super Mario 64 - the world premiere of the game took place in 1996 on the Nintendo 64 console. This extremely important game for the industry is considered to be the father of 3D platformers, which has contributed to setting the most important standards of the genre, as well as defining the direction of development of three-dimensional arcade and adventure games.
During the adventure we play the role of Mario, who is trying to save the kidnapped Princess Peach. During the game we explore a magical castle, which acts as a hub, from which we move to many different and partially open levels. Our task is to collect the largest possible collection of stars hidden in different nooks and crannies of the location. Mario has full freedom of movement, he can jump and run or even fly.
Super Mario Sunshine - the game originally released in 2002 on Nintendo Gamecube console. Mario and his friends went on a well-deserved vacation to the tropical island of Delfino. Unfortunately, the villain resembling a bearded plumber destroyed a sunny paradise, leaving dirt and graffiti everywhere.
Accused of devastation, Mario is forced to clean the entire resort, which is helped by a water cannon called FLUDD. He also uses the jet of water under pressure to explore large locations and to fight the enemies that the evil double sent on him.
Super Mario Galaxy - considered by many fans as the best three-dimensional platformer with Mario. The game was published in 2007 on Wii console. In 2010, the game received a direct sequel - Super Mario Galaxy 2, but not part of the collection. As the name of the game suggests, the Super Mario Galaxy action takes place in outer space. Mario and Luigi help Princess Rosalina launch her ship by collecting 120 special stars scattered across many planets.
The game levels are built from 42 galaxies, part of which are small spherical maps showing colorful asteroids. Many of them are characterized by various special features, such as reduced gravity, that influence Mario's behavior. The original Super Mario Galaxy was designed to work with a Wii motion controller, the port simulates its functioning using Joy-Cons. It is worth mentioning that the game also has a cooperation mode, where the other player helps by collecting various power-ups and bonuses on the board using the cursor.
Technical aspects
The games included in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars set have been remastered and adapted to work in 1080p resolution and on widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio). However, the developers did not make any significant changes in the audiovisual setting or gameplay. An additional attraction for fans is the music library, where we can listen to 175 tracks from all games in the package.
