Sulfur Description
Sulfur is an FPS set in a grim world, pitting us against hordes of enemies, tasking us with completing dangerous missions. It was developed by an indie studio Perfect Random.
Plot
Sulfur is set in a fantasy world, the inhabitants of which must atone for their sins. We play as an adventurer delving into the land to acquire treasure and learn its secrets. Along the way he meets many quirky characters and grows wealthy... if he survives, that is.
Mechanics
Sulfur is a first-person game (FPP). The game revolves around expeditions to various locations, during which we must find a treasure and leave in one piece. The adventure is set in different areas of the grim land, such as misty valleys, dark forests and run-down settlements. Each of these places contains many enemies; aside from regular cannon fodder there are also powerful bosses to fight. We can either engage our foes in open combat or be more tactical and sneaky.
The player has access to a wide roster of weaponry, including pistols, machine guns, shotguns and sniper rifles. When choosing equipment we must take our playstyle and the mission objectives into account. Progressing through the game unlocks new modifications and upgrades for our weapons. One must be careful though, as if we perish, everything we've carried with us is lost forever. For this reason, before starting a quest we must think through which weapons and gadgets to take with us, and which to leave behind.
Not all inhabitants of the land are aggressive, as from time to time we encounter various creatures with various attitudes towards us - some despise us, others are indifferent, yet others admire us. Some of these NPCs can be traded and talked with, learning more about the game's world... that is, if they're willing to divulge any information or if we persuade them (or force them) to do so.
Technical aspects
Sulfur makes use of a simple, cartoonish artstyle. The game is dark and atmospheric.
