Stray Gods: Orpheus

Stray Gods: Orpheus is a narrative adventure game that is a combination of a visual novel and an interactive musical. This is an add-on created for Stray Gods from 2023. It's the debut work of the independent Summerfall Studios team. The protagonist is again played by actor Anthony Rapp (Star Trek: Discovery), and the script was written by David Gaider, known for his work on the Dragon Age series.

Plot

The expansion takes us to the present day, largely shaped by Greek mythology. This time the main role is not played by Grace, known from the base version of the game, but by the titular Orpheus. The legendary singer is brought back to life by Hermes, allowing him to once again taste the world of music, romances, and moral dilemmas.

Gameplay

Like the original, Stray Gods: Orpheus focuses on conducting conversations with NPCs, during which we choose one of the dialogue options. The available answer options allow us to learn more about the game's universe, its characters, and the main plot. The decisions made affect the ending of the story and the music that appears in the game.

The add-on introduces six new tracks to the game, composed by Austin Wintory, with lyrics written by Simon Hall, Montaigne, and Tom Cardy.

Technical aspects

Stray Gods: Orpheus is a non-standalone expansion - it requires the base game to work.
