The first story expansion to Steelrising, a soulslike action RPG set during an alternate French Revolution. Cagliostro's Secrets introduces a new area, a new boss fight, enemies, items and quests.
Steelrising: Cagliostro's Secrets is a story DLC to Steelrising, a soulslike set during an alternate French Revolution, released on September 9, 2022. It was developed the same studio as the original, Spiders, also known for GreedFall and The Technomancer.
Plot
The DLC tasks the player with finding Jacques Pierre Brissot, who's gone missing due to machinations of an infamous royal agent, Comte de Cagliostro. The protagonist, automaton Aegis, must search for him at the St. Louis Hospital. The place hides many secrets linked to automaton-powering alchemy, word on the street saying no one's ever left it unscathed.
The events of the DLC are portrayed as an expansive side questline in a brand-new area. The expansion also offers access to previously unexplored corners of the Bastille. It also adds a new boss and two new NPCs.
Mechanics
The game's main mechanics remain unchanged. It is, once again, an action RPG with heavy soulslike influence, fast-paced combat and challenging bosses. Acquired points can be spent to upgrade Aegis, while exploring levels grants useful items.
The expansion adds five entirely new weapons, giving us more options on how to dispatch enemies. St. Louis' hospital is home to some brand-new automatons, who are all diverse and challenging opponents. Aegis has also received a new outfit.
Technical aspects
To access the content from the expansion, the player must first complete the "Bastille" stage in the main storyline.
