Steel Division 2: Tribute to Normandy '44 Description
Steel Division 2: Tribute to Normandy '44 is an expansion to the strategic game titled Steel Division 2 released in 2019. The add-on, which refers to the first part of the series, and at the same time represents the culmination of the transfer of units to the second installment of the cycle, was developed by the authors of the base version of the game, namely the Eugen Systems studio overseeing the development of the brand.
Mechanics
Steel Division 2: Tribute to Normandy '44 focuses on new content related to the Normandy campaign, starting from the famous D-Day (June 6, 1944) through to the liberation of Paris (August 25, 1944).
The expansion brings allied divisions, among which we can find: American 1st Infantry Division, 101st Airborne Division and 4th Armored Division, British Armored Division and "Desert Rats" (also known as the 7th Armored Division), 4th Canadian Armoured Division and French commandos from the SAS Half Brigade.
On the Axis side, there are: 2nd Armored Division and 9th Armored Division, 1st SS Panzer Division "LSSAH", 16th Luftwaffe Field Division, Festung Groß-Paris, 91st Luftlande Division and the 716th Infantry Division.
In addition, the list of new items includes over 200 previously unavailable units, including fourteen vehicles, three planes, and numerous infantry units. Their list features: the Marder I tank destroyer, the Flak 41 88 mm anti-aircraft gun, the NAG 4500 anti-aircraft truck, the Wallaby heavy armored transporter, the Otter armored car, as well as the A-20G and B-25C bombers. The list is topped by new heroes, such as Creighton Abrams (commander of the Sherman tank) or even Lieutenant Richard Winters (paratrooper).
Game modes
Similar to the base version of the game, Steel Division 2: Tribute to Normandy '44 can be played alone or in multiplayer mode over the Internet.
Technical aspects
Steel Division 2: Tribute to Normandy '44 is a non-standalone expansion, therefore it requires the base version of the game Steel Division 2 to operate. In the DLC, new voice actors appeared, playing among others the roles of allied pilots from Belgium and New Zealand.
